Sierra Corporation, an Information Technology solutions provider, announced today (4/5/2012) the deployment of Xirrus Wi-Fi Arrays at the Carter G. Woodson Collegiate Academy.
“At Sierra Corporation, we offer only the best products to our customers, and the Xirrus’ Wi-Fi Array is the highest performing product we’ve seen in the market,” said Rassul B. Hashemi, President of Sierra Corporation. “Our partnership with Xirrus, allows us to deploy a Wi-Fi network for our clients that offers twice the range and four times the coverage, making it an ideal solution for schools and other large facilities with Wi-Fi needs.”
The deployment consisted of 16 Wi-Fi Arrays, which cover the entire three building campus while supporting more than 500 students, faculty, and school employees. The Xirrus solution was chosen because it required less cabling and fewer devices, hence making the deployment rollout quicker, more efficient, and less expensive.
“The nature of our site is that one or two classrooms at a time will be using the Internet,” said Donald L. Hense, Chairman of Friendship Public Charter Schools. “We needed to offer reliable and high-speed wireless Internet access for research as part of our commitment to providing state-of-the-art facilities to our students and faculty.”
“It’s an honor for us to have a company like Sierra Corporation resell our products and for a school such as Carter G. Woodson, known for its exceptional standards for technological and learning tools, to use them,” said Dirk Gates, CEO, Xirrus. “We see this as further validation of the inroads we are making, as we continue to push the boundaries of Wi-Fi into the education market.”
